PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: PLEASE AVOID THE SANTA CRUZ RIVER CHANNEL AND BANKS

People and their domestic animals should avoid the Santa Cruz river channel and tributary drainage channels until further notice.

This week the City of Nogales issued a State of Emergency Proclamation in response to a damaged sewer line caused by the recent heavy rainfall and flooding.

Today, Santa Cruz County issued a press release stating that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is on site to assist with the sewer situation.  Santa Cruz County Health Services is advising the public to stay out of the Nogales Wash and the Santa Cruz River.

The Town of Sahuarita would like to extend this advisory to the Santa Cruz River, within our jurisdiction, as a precautionary measure until further information is available.  As a public health precaution, we ask that the public (people and their domestic animals) stay out of the river channel and away from the river banks and tributary drainage channels. We appreciate your cooperation.
