Fiesta 2011

Fiesta 2011

The September 24, 2011 Fiesta Sahuarita was the most popular Town birthday party to date! Anamax Park hosted over 10,000 people with a range of activities.

Sahuarita Parks and Recreation staff, volunteers from other Town departments, and approximately 200 citizen volunteers, made this year’s Fiesta a huge success. The Town offers a big thank you to the young volunteers who came from the National Junior Honor Society, National Junior ROTC, and all the adults who also volunteered.

Many visited historic displays celebrating Arizona’s Centennial. And some bought raffle tickets for a chance to win the Copper Chopper, a one-of-a-kind, custom motorcycle designed by Paul Yaffe. The Mayor welcomed the Fiesta audience who enjoyed live and recorded music and dance performances. The Town gave T-shirts to 1,000 Fiesta-goers. The large crowd caused several food vendors to run out of food and call their off-site kitchens for more. Young kids enjoyed the bounce castles, train rides and pony rides. Kids of all ages tested their skills at carnival-style games.

Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold, Caterpillar, Green Valley News & Sahuarita Sun, KGVY 1080 Radio Station, Rancho Sahuarita Company and Saguaro Environmental Services. The Town of Sahuarita also thanks all the other sponsors for a great event.
