Kara Egbert was elected to Sahuarita Town Council in 2009 and has lived in Sahuarita since 2005. She grew up in Liberty, Missouri and witnessed Liberty nearly double its population but still maintain its small town values. Egbert has the same desire for the Town of Sahuarita to accomplish that balance and she works towards that goal.

When Egbert moved to Arizona, she volunteered on the Parks and Recreation Commission and served as the Chairperson for two years. She served as the Director of For Our City Sahuarita for several years and served as a leader in the Boy Scout program; she also participated as a director for a leadership camp for girls. She is currently the president of a local service group for women that looks after the well-being and needs of women and their families.

She is married and has five children and volunteers in the schools including the Sahuarita Education Endowment Fund and GradNight.

Egbert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management from Brigham Young University. She worked for several cities in Utah managing recreation programs, fitness centers and parks. She was involved with special events such as First Night and the Freedom Festival in Provo, Utah. Egbert ran soccer programs that included over 250 youth teams. She was also the Manager of Operation for one of the largest fitness centers in the state of Utah.

Council Member Egbert has enjoyed serving on the Town Council and is excited for Sahuarita to grow in future years. She looks forward to improving communication from the Town to the residents as well as bring the town together with special events and service opportunities. She will continue to work hard to keep our small town values in our growing community.
