Inaugural Sahuarita Art on the Lake Festival to Feature Tony Plak Mural

On January 14th, 2023, the Town of Sahuarita in partnership with the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance (SAACA) will host the inaugural Sahuarita Art on the Lake Festival.  The festival will feature immersive and experiential activities throughout the Sahuarita Lake Park with local artwork for sale, street painting, interactive art activities, performance art, community chalk mural competition, food trucks, and live music throughout the park.

The Sahuarita Art on the Lake Festival will feature a Tony Plak mural on the southwest corner of the Sahuarita Lake walkway.  The 25’ x 25’ mural project was funded by SAACA in partnership with the Town of Sahuarita at a total cost of $900. The hand painted mural will be at Sahuarita Lake park permanently with yearly maintenance provide by SAACA and the Town of Sahuarita.  Tony Plak is a local artist from Nogales, Sonora Mexico.

The Sahuarita Art on the Lake Festival supports a goal by the Town of Sahuarita and the Sahuarita Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department to build the community through arts programming, providing a venue for many artisans to exhibit and sell their work and overall support the arts in the region.  The festival also provides the opportunity for tourism and economic development in Sahuarita.
