The Town of Sahuarita operates under a council-manager form of government. This means that the Sahuarita Town Council is responsible for the policy matters of the town and hire a town manager to oversee staff and carry out the day to day functions of the town.
The town council is elected by voting residents living within the Town of Sahuarita's jurisdiction. Elections are generally held in the fall of even numbered years.
Town of Sahuarita Boards and Commissions provide a valuable link to the community and to its various interests. They assist in the development of policy recommendations to the town council. Board members are appointed by the town council, and board appointees volunteer to serve the community.
Sahuarita welcomes and accommodates the needs of residents with the spirit of volunteerism where neighbors work together for the common good to build a strong and vibrant community.

Appointments are made throughout the year and up-to-date membership rosters including new appointments, vacancies, meeting calendar, agendas and minutes are published routinely to the website.
Community facilities districts are special purpose, tax levying, public improvement districts (in accordance with Title 48, Chapter 4, Article 6 of the Arizona Revised Statutes.
These districts are local governments, distinct and separate from the Town of Sahuarita, with the ability to enter into contracts and to issue debt independently.
However, the districts are located within the town boundaries, and the town council sits as the governing board of each district.
The Town of Sahuarita holds regularly scheduled elections in the fall of even numbered years. The Town Clerk is the Election Official with responsibility for the elections. The Pima County Recorder’s Office and Pima County Elections Division supports the Town Clerk in the conduct of the Town elections.
The Town of Sahuarita Municipal Court upholds the law and administers justice fairly and efficiently, treating all who come to the court with dignity and respect.
The court operates by Arizona law to hear violations within the town’s limits. The court adjudicates all criminal/traffic misdemeanor cases, civil traffic cases, town code violations and certain juvenile offenses.
