Animal Services

What animal control services will the Town provide?

Licensing: Town residents are able to license their dogs online or obtain help with online licensing or renewal at the Anamax Recreation Center, 17501 S. Camino de las Quintas, Sahuarita, AZ. Pima County dog licenses are valid until they expire. At that time, you will receive a renewal notification from PetData, the licensing service provider the Town will be using for dog licensing services. License your dog online.

Enforcement: An Animal Control Officer (ACO) is available to respond to animal calls and assist owners in being reunited with their lost animals. The ACO is responsible for enforcing the Town’s Animal Control Code Title 6, which includes leash laws, noise and barking, strays, aggressive animals, and such. The ACO will also transport stray and impounded animals to the shelter. The Sahuarita Police Department will assist the ACO.

Shelter: The Town has contracted with the Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA) in Tucson to provide sheltering of animals impounded through enforcement actions. Owners can contact the HSSA directly to recover an animal.

Education and Outreach: The Town is committed to providing educational opportunities and outreach clinics to provide materials and training as well as opportunities for vaccinations, spay/neuter and microchip clinics. These opportunities will be posted as they become available.
