The Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail traverses from Culiacan to Rosales, Mexico to San Francisco, California. The Juan Bautista de Anza Trail can be accessed from the Llano Grande Trailhead located in the Town of Sahuarita accessed from Nogales Highway and Quail Creek Crossing. From here you can travel north or south and explore 47 miles of this trail within Pima County.

Look for the trail markers to access the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail from the Llano Grande Trailhead. From the trail markers, outdoor recreationists can go north or south on the natural desert single-track trail.

We were selected by the National Parks Service (NPS) to participate in their Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance (RTCA) program. The outcome for our collaboration is to create a Trails Plan for the Twin Buttes property. The project is scheduled to occur from approximately September 2021 through November 2022 and will include opportunities for public participation.
