At the Town Council meeting on Monday night, Mayor Tom Murphy announced that applications are available beginning May 2 for residents interested in filling the vacant seat on the Council left by the resignation of Gil Lusk. In accordance with state law and town code, the Council will fill this vacancy by appointment. The term of the appointment will be until the next regularly scheduled town election cycle in 2024.
Persons interested in applying must complete and return an application packet. Application packets are available at the Town Clerk’s Office, Town Hall, 375 W. Sahuarita Center Way, or on the town website at www.sahuaritaaz.gov/vacancy. Applications will be accepted by the Town Clerk’s Office beginning 8 a.m., Monday, May 2 and are due on or before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1. A running list of candidates will be published on the town website at www.sahuaritaa.gov/vacancy.
Applications will be discussed and Town Council will determine which candidates to interview at a regular meeting on June 13 at 6 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers, Town Hall, 375 W. Sahuarita Center Way. Council will interview the selected candidates at the regular Council Meeting on June 27, at 6 p.m., in the Town Council Chambers, Town Hall, 375 W. Sahuarita Center Way. Candidates will be interviewed individually in open session, after which the council will discuss the applicants interviewed prior to making an appointment to the Town Council. The successful candidate will be sworn in at the conclusion of the Town Council Meeting on June 27.
