The Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services provides leadership and directs the functions of the Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department. This position reports to the Assistant Town Manager and serves as a member of the Town’s Leadership Team. The Director mentors and guides a team of 30 dedicated Parks, Recreation & Community Services staff who are committed to creating community through people, parks and programs and to provide the public with various recreational opportunities and facilities. Oversight of the department includes hundreds of recreation programs annually, eight community parks, and multiple large-scale community wide events annually. The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Director must be a collaborator who actively engages employees at all levels and an excellent communicator who can work effectively with elected officials, Town management and staff, outside agencies, the media, and the public. The successful candidate will be expected to articulate a vision of excellence, establish credibility and consistency in delivery of services, motivate others within the Department and provide creative problem solving in response to community issues. Exceptional interpersonal skills are critical in this role.
