2018 Citizen Survey Results

The Town of Sahuarita’s 2018 survey of residents data has been collected and published in a report by Strongpoint Opinion Research. Trends since the previous survey in 2015 show positive results. Overall residents continue to view the town as a good place to raise children, enjoy life and buy a home.

The survey reports residents enjoy a high quality of life. The average annual household income increased from $76,624 to $91,300. Residents enjoy clean streets, parks, and public places that are aesthetically appealing. Opportunities for volunteerism and community participation are plentiful and the vast majority of residents, over 80%, feel that local government treats citizens fairly and is confident in its ability to do its job, a trend that continues to climb. Residents also rate the police department positively, with an overwhelming 94% rating, and report feeling safe from violent crime and gang activity.

Mayor Tom Murphy notes that the council will use the report to help inform their actions and build strategies to plan for future growth. “We are grateful for the enthusiastic participation of all the residents who offered feedback,” said Murphy. “It’s really a cornerstone of representative government to have channels established for this kind of communication.”

L. Kelly Udall, Town Manager, stated “We are pleased to see that quality of life statements throughout the survey over the last five years continue to trend in a positive direction and residents consistently say they enjoy living in this community.”
