On June 7th, 2019, at approximately 0130 hours, Sahuarita police officers responded to an apartment at 19190 S. Alpha Avenue for a report of possible structural fire. According to the information received from Dispatch a smoke detector was activated in one of the rooms within an apartment.
On arrival, Green Valley Fire Department and Sahuarita Police Department established unified command in furtherance of the investigation. Four apartments were evacuated including their pets at approximately 0135 hours. There were no reported injuries and the investigation on scene revealed the cause of the smoke originated from a faulty HVAC unit located on the roof above the apartment in question. No fire was associated with incident. Residents were advised it was safe to return to their apartments at approximately 0220 hours.
