SAHUARITA, Ariz. — The retirement of Town Manager Kelly Udall was announced at Monday’s town council meeting. Udall has served the town for eight years, and his retirement and separation agreement was unanimously accepted by the council. The council has selected Finance Director, A.C. Marriotti, as interim manager. Marriotti has served the town as finance director for nearly 17 years, having been hired in 2004. Marriotti will concurrently serve as both finance director and interim town manager.
Marriotti also comes to the position with seven years of experience working for the Arizona Auditor General where he held the position of senior financial auditor. He holds two Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degrees from the University of Arizona in the areas of finance and accounting respectively.
Marriotti says he is honored to take on the responsibility of interim town manager, and grateful to the council for their trust. He also notes that over his tenure he’s developed relationships with town leadership and staff that will aid his assessment of the town’s needs and priorities. “We have good people doing good work. People who care about the town and their role in making it a great place. That makes me confident that this transition will go smoothly.”
Mayor Tom Murphy noted that Marriotti’s attention to detail and many years of experience helping create balanced budgets is invaluable to the position. “We’re grateful to A.C. for his help in keeping the town fiscally responsible and accountable to our residents. Understanding that we work for them is crucial to the position. He’s wearing two hats now as interim, and we know he’ll wear them well.”
