Melissa Hicks (Smith) was elected to Town Council in 2011. She is a mother of two who has worked in Sahuarita for the past 16 years. She moved to the area in 1999 from Tucson because she wanted a rural and small town environment in which to raise her children. Hicks currently lives in Rancho Sahuarita with her husband and their five children. She attended Pima Community College and studied law, then began working at the Green Valley Fire District in 1995. She retired at the rank of Captain in 2016.
She looks forward to supporting Sahuarita’s sustainability through a balance of businesses, recreation opportunities, and residential neighborhoods. Hicks believes in enhancing partnerships with the community, businesses, developers and other governmental agencies to advance the Town’s economic development.
