A Community Facilities District is a government entity created by the Town Council, but separate of the Town Council. The CFD has the power to issue bonds, build improvements and impose a property tax. CFDs help to pay for roads, drainage, landscaping and sewer lines intended to help with commercial and residential growth.
The CFD will issue tax-exempt bonds to be repaid by property taxes collected on home within the district boundaries and on commercial, industrial and multifamily development in the CFD.
The Sahuarita Town Council members act as the Governing Board for CFDs.
