Arrest Made for Aggravated Assault, DUI

[SAHUARITA, AZ – June 28, 2024] – On Thursday, 6/27/2024, at approximately 2:23 PM, Sahuarita officers responded to the Dairy Queen/Chevron gas station located at 1051 West Beta St. for the report of an assault. Officers learned a suspect was acting erratic and had failed to pay for some merchandise at the Chevron gas station.

The suspect entered the Dairy Queen and approached a family with young children. The suspect grabbed a six-year-old child and shook him while making incoherent statements. The suspect let go of the child and then left the location in a vehicle. The child was not injured during this incident. 

At approximately 2:49 PM, while officers were investigating this incident, a 9-1-1 caller reported an unwanted person at GG & Tile another business located at 1180 West Beta Street. The caller advised that a subject inside the business was in the employee-only area and was refusing to leave. The suspect described by the caller matched the suspect from the Dairy Queen. Officers arrived on the scene and took the suspect into custody. Officers noted signs and symptoms of impairment and conducted a DUI investigation.

The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Tucson resident Robert Dominguez. The investigation established probable cause to arrest Mr. Dominguez for aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous drug, shoplifting, and DUI. He was booked into the Pima County Jail without incident.
