From Mayor Tom Murphy:
It is with deep sorrow that I share the news of the passing of my dear friend and colleague, Mayor Ed Honea of the Town of Marana.
For over a decade, I had the privilege of knowing Ed, a man whose dedication to public service spanned nearly 40 years. Ed was not only a champion for his own community but also a steadfast supporter of ours at the regional and state levels. He was a true collaborator, always ready to work together for the betterment of our towns and the people we serve.
Sahuarita and Marana share many values, and over the years, Ed and I built a strong partnership rooted in mutual respect and a shared vision. Whether it was advocating for our communities or standing together on tough issues, I always knew Ed had my six, just as I had his.
Ed’s legacy is one of unwavering commitment and love for his community. His impact will be felt for generations to come, and his friendship will always hold a special place in my heart.
On behalf of the Town of Sahuarita, I extend my deepest condolences to Ed’s children, whom he was deeply proud of, as well as the entire Marana community. We mourn this tremendous loss with you and honor the remarkable life of a truly great man.
Rest in peace, Ed. You will be dearly missed.
