The Town of Sahuarita Municipal Court will end its Passport Acceptance and Marriage License issuance services on May 15-16. Responsibilities of the court stem from state statutes, and it is the mission of the court to uphold its judicial duties first and foremost.
The decision to eliminate passport and marriage license services came from two years of consideration and planning regarding staff time and coverage, maintaining a high standard of quality for essential services, and the training/certification demands to retain those functions.
The court will continue to focus on core judicial and administrative functions, such as:
- Judicial: Processing cases, traffic violations, orders of protection, injunctions against harassment, civil cases, and compliance monitoring
- Administrative: Courtroom management, fine and fee processing, record maintenance, coordination with law enforcement, budget management, and public assistance relating to court proceedings.
