The Town of Sahuarita is excited to announce the launch of its centralized solid waste collection program in partnership with Waste Connections. This new program will enhance convenience, accountability, and service quality for all residents. The official start date is September 1, 2025. Residents should expect to see their first bill mid-August for service from September through November.

All residents will be automatically included in the program without any action being taken.

The service includes one 96-gallon waste bin and one 96-gallon recycling bin. Additional bins are available at this time for an additional monthly charge. Residents will not incur charges for the delivery of new bins or the collection of bins if they move in the future.

Key Dates:

  • August 11-29: New waste carts will be delivered to homes
  • August 15: First bill will be sent for service covering September through November
  • September 1: New waste collection service begins

Next Steps for Residents
To ensure a smooth transition, all residents are encouraged to complete the following:

  1. Turn Off Autopay: Disable autopay with your current provider to avoid being charged for the next billing cycle.
  2. Cancel Service: Notify your existing provider of your service cancellation effective August 31, 2025.
  3. Arrange Cart Return: Coordinate with your current provider for the return of old bins. Town staff are working with Republic and Waste Management to negotiate reduced or waived fees for this process—contact your current provider for details.

Seasonal Residents
If you will be away during the transition, please complete the steps above and fill out a postponement form to ensure your service aligns with your return.

Unique Needs
Residents interested in reduced-volume or shared bin arrangements should contact Dan Logan at solidwaste@sahuaritaaz.gov for individualized assistance.

Madera Highlands
Members of the Madera Highlands HOA will continue to utilize services from Republic Services through the end of the official contract, unless they elect to join the town’s service sooner by individual request.  Residents within the Madera Highlands Community who are unsure about their HOA status and inclusion in the existing contract should contact their HOA rep.
