Beginning Monday, Aug. 11, the Town of Sahuarita will begin delivering new trash and recycling carts to all households* in town limits. The new carts are part of the town’s transition to a centralized collection system in collaboration with Waste Connections of Arizona.

Residents are asked to store the new carts and continue using their current carts for trash and recycling collection through Thursday, Aug. 29, following their regular pickup schedule. The new carts will be activated as part of the new collection system starting Monday, Sept. 1. The new Sahuarita Waste Collection Zone Schedule is available here.

Each home will receive one trash cart (black lid) and one recycling cart (blue lid). The addition of recycling for all residents was made possible through a grant from The Recycling Partnership, with funding support from the American Beverage Association’s Every Bottle Back initiative, Arizonia Beverage Association, and Cox Enterprises. The grant will provide 14,500 new recycling carts – one for every home – and includes funding for public education and outreach to help residents adapt to the new system and understand the importance of recycling right.

“These new carts are not just replacements—they’re investments in a cleaner, more sustainable future for Sahuarita,” said Daniel Logan, Deputy Director of Public Works. “The larger carts, standardized sizes, and improved materials will help reduce litter, increase recycling, and make collection safer and more efficient for our neighborhoods.”
