On Jan. 28, 2025, Sahuarita Police School Resource Officers (SROs) began a weapons misconduct investigation involving a student bringing an alleged firearm magazine onto campus. Subsequently, the investigation led to the interview of approximately ten students.
As a result of the investigation, multiple student witnesses advised the magazine that was brought on campus was a magazine that belonged to an airsoft-style gun. Additionally, students informed SRO that the suspected student flushed the airsoft magazine down one of the toilets in a bathroom stall. Sahuarita Middle School was placed on a “shelter-in-place” status during the investigation. The investigation ultimately yielded no magazine or weapon of any kind found.
After the investigation, supervised by the SRO Sergeant, it was determined there was no active threat to the school, students, staff, or community.
