On March 4, 2025, at approximately 09:19 AM, officers of the Sahuarita Police Department responded to a report of a single vehicle accident on Nogales Hwy just south of Sahuarita Rd. Upon arrival, officers found a citizen performing CPR on an elderly female. An SPD officer took over CPR until Santa Rita Fire Department personnel arrived and took over life-saving measures. Unfortunately, these life-saving measures were unsuccessful, and the female passed away at the scene.

SPD Traffic Investigators and Crime Scene Specialists responded to the scene to investigate. At this point in the investigation, it appears the vehicle was traveling southbound on Nogales Hwy when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The victim, who was the only occupant, was wearing a seatbelt, and speed and impairment do not seem to have contributed to this incident. Preliminary information at this time suggests a medical issue may have caused this collision.

The victim in this case has been identified as 89-year-old Sahuarita resident Marcia Jones. Ms. Jones’s next of kin has been notified of this unfortunate incident.
