On July 02, 2025, at approximately 9:15 PM, Sahuarita officers were dispatched to the Speedway gas station located at 795 W. Via Rancho Sahuarita for a report of a man assaulting a woman inside the gas station restroom.
An officer arrived and learned that a white GMC pickup truck had fled the scene. Officers were able to locate the vehicle near the intersection of Sahuarita Road and Desert Gem. An officer conducted a traffic stop to investigate the incident. As officers attempted to make contact, the vehicle, which was driven by a male suspect, fled the traffic stop at a high rate of speed.
Officers initiated a pursuit, and the vehicle continued eastbound on Sahuarita Road, where it ran a red light at La Villita Road. The vehicle continued eastbound at a high rate of speed and, upon reaching the intersection of Nogales Hwy and Sahuarita Rd, ran the red light at over 70 miles per hour. Officers continued to pursue the vehicle, which was traveling at over 80 miles per hour, until they lost visual contact with the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Santa Rita and Broadwater Way.
An extensive area search was conducted, and the vehicle and the suspect were not located. Officers continued to investigate the incident and identified a suspect. On July 10, 2025, the suspect was arrested without incident in the 100 Block of N. Abrego Drive.
The suspect in this case has been identified as Joseph Quesada, a 37-year-old resident of Sahuarita. Mr. Quesada was booked into the Pima County Jail for Unlawful Flight from Law Enforcement, Aggressive Driving, Reckless Driving, and exceeding the speed limit by 20 mph.
