Beginning Monday, Feb. 17, construction will begin at the intersection of Nogales Highway and Abrego Drive. The project was designed to enhance traffic flow and safety, and is expected to be completed by the end of June 2025.

Initial activities will focus on removals along Nogales Highway. Traffic in the area will be redirected to either the north or south side of the road, depending on the active work zone, as part of the approved traffic control plan. While no formal speed reduction is planned, the presence of barricades is expected to encourage slower driving through the construction area.

The contract for the roadwork was awarded to the Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Company (SAP).

“We are committed to maintaining open communication with the community and minimizing inconvenience as much as possible,” said Galo Galovale, Director of Public Works. “These improvements are part of our ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and ensure the safety and efficiency of Sahuarita’s roadways.”

Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution and remain alert in the construction zone. Further updates will be provided as the project advances.
