On July 21, 2025, SPD Detectives arrested a 14-year-old male Sahuarita resident and booked him into the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center on three counts of weapons misconduct, a class 4 felony; three counts of misconduct with simulated explosives, a class 5 felony; and one count of destruction of a protected plant, a class 5 felony.
Background
On June 13 and June 20, 2025, the Sahuarita Police Department (SPD) responded to multiple locations in the Rancho Sahuarita subdivision, reference reports of suspicious devices. Officers located multiple devices that appeared to be an explosive, or simulated explosive. The Pima Regional Bomb Squad responded to each incident, successfully rendering the devices safe.
Over several weeks, SPD Detectives worked many hours and followed up on multiple leads, served multiple search warrants, and were able to identify the suspect(s) in these cases.
On July 16, 2025, SPD Detectives arrested a 15-year-old male Sahuarita resident and booked him into the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center on similar charges.

This case remains under investigation; however, no additional arrests are anticipated at this time. The SPD will continue to keep the community informed of any significant developments.
