UPDATE: New information on the suspect description was given a short while ago. Officers who saw the suspect described a lighter skin black male, thin, and wearing a red shirt.
On November 1st at approximately 9:00 PM, The SPD assisted the Tucson Police Department at the conclusion of a vehicle pursuit. Additional circumstances follow. A carjacking occurred last night in Tucson that resulted in a vehicle pursuit which ended on south Old Nogales Hwy, south of Pima Mine Rd. The suspect ran the stolen vehicle off to the east side of Nogales Hwy and then fled eastbound into the pecan groves. Law enforcement assets, to include a helicopter and UAVs, were utilized to locate the suspect for several hours; however, they were unsuccessful. The suspect is described as a possible white male who was wearing a black or dark t-shirt, blue jeans, and black and white tennis shoes. The suspect was described as being in his 20’s or 30’s and was armed with a handgun. It is possible the suspect was picked up by someone and left the area; however, it is also possible he “bedded down” during darkness and could attempt to walk out of the area during daylight. Residents are advised to keep an eye out and report suspicious activity by calling 911. As always, the SPD does not recommend picking up hitchhikers or strangers.
