On February 21, 2026, at about 10:56 A.M., officers of the Sahuarita Police Department (SPD) were dispatched to the south end of Sahuarita Lake Park regarding a juvenile riding an electric bicycle that collided with apparatus for a sign in the park. The juvenile was injured and members of the Santa Rita Fire District (SRFD) were also dispatched. 

Prior to SPD and SRFD arriving on scene, others in the park and near where the collision occurred administered First Aid to the juvenile. SRFD personnel took over medical aid upon their arrival, and the juvenile was later transported via ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries. SPD is currently investigating this incident.
