The Building Safety Division reviews all building plans for permitting, issues permits, inspects all buildings under construction, and performs annual fire inspections of commercial developments through our agreement with Santa Rita Fire District. It also reviews development plans and subdivision plats for conformance with fire codes. When appropriate, the division reviews proposed updates to the International Building Codes for adoption locally. We assist the public and applicants in preparing submittals and answer questions about code compliance.
Mission
The mission of the Community Development Department is to ensure the safety of the public through building and fire code education, professional assistance, and enforcement; plan for Sahuarita's future physical, environmental, economic, and cultural needs; and manage development in the community.
