On January 21, 2026, at approximately 3:23 PM, Sahuarita Police Department officers responded to Sahuarita Middle School regarding reports of threats involving a potential school shooting. Multiple reports were received concerning threatening statements made by a student at the school.
Officers worked in coordination with designated school personnel to facilitate interviews and details regarding the reported threat. The investigation revealed that a 12-year-old student made statements threatening to bring a gun to school and harm other students, with the alleged incident planned to occur on Friday, January 23, 2026.
Officers conducted a thorough investigation into these serious allegations and the circumstances surrounding the reported threats. Following the comprehensive investigation, officers successfully located and arrested the juvenile suspect. The 12-year-old student was subsequently booked into the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center for Disruption of an educational facility.
