[SAHUARITA, AZ – June 1, 2024] – The Town of Sahuarita will move its Stars & Stripes celebration from Town Hall to Anamax Park on July 4, 2024, in an effort to improve safety and programming for the annual event.
"We have been considering this move for some time,” said Devin Stalder, Director of Parks & Recreation. “Along with our partners in the Sahuarita Police Department and Green Valley Fire District, we reached a consensus to move locations.”
Factors considered in the decision include:
- Heat Management – Town Hall provides minimal access to water and the asphalt creates heat concerns for staff and visitors. Anamax Park offers access to water, grass fields, and some air-conditioned spaces.
- Increased Vendor Spaces – Anamax Park can increase vendor opportunities from 50 to 200. The space will also allow space for a large canopy with tables and chairs.
- Water Play – There was a significant slip risk associated with wet asphalt at Town Hall. With more grass and turf area, water fights and inflatables can continue. In future years, the Splashpad (currently under construction) will be another benefit to Anamax.
- Fireworks Viewing – Anamax will be a better viewing location for fireworks from Man in the Maze Park.
"We are confident that the move to Anamax will be a positive change that will be beneficial for years to come,” said Stalder. “Stay tuned for more details about Sahuarita Stars & Stripes – including the Fireworks schedule – we’re sure it will be the best one yet.”
